Through Safe Routes for All, we are implementing a comprehensive, street by street set of strategies that provide better and safer options for getting where you want to go.
Proven strategies include safe road designs, lower speed limits, red light cameras, “share the road” education campaigns, and partnerships & collaboration with community organizations.
Speed and red-light cameras are coming to New Haven
Over the next few months, the New Haven Traffic & Parking will work to install red-light and speed safety cameras throughout the city. These cameras work to deter speeding and red light running by recording photo and video evidence of traffic violations, automatically issuing citations to the registered vehicle owner in the mail. Cameras serve as a reminder to drivers that there is always a risk to getting caught speeding or running red lights. Respecting speed limits and following the rules of the road makes every route safer for all road users.
